Capacitive level sensors specifically for the plastic processing industry. Requirements for level monitoring Wherever plastic granulates are conveyed and processed capacitive proximity switches are used to monitor levels in pipes and in silos or through sight glasses in loaders on injection moulding machines. The sensor must reliably detect a wide range of plastics in spite of differences in the material, residual moisture and temperature. Moreover, the grain size and surface characteristics of the basic substances vary considerably. Application sensor for the plastic industry The new M30 capacitive level switch was specially developed to meet the requirements mentioned above. Thanks to the intelligent microprocessor technology even predried granulates can be reliably detected. Optimum sensitivity adjustment to suit the medium is made automatically by he press of a pushbutton. The front face of the sensor is rated for temperatures up to 110 °C and can be mounted in direct contact with the sight glass. The timeconsuming setting of an air gap is no longer necessary. Due to its mechanical structure the sensor is specially immune to the electrostatic discharges which occur whenever plastics are conveyed. The user has the choice between DC and AC units. The universal switching output can be programmed to be either NC or NO. Two highly visible LEDs clearly indicate the level from distance.
