Like all polyaryletherketones (PAEK) polyetheretherketon (PEEK)has excellent
mechanical characteristics and a high chemical resistance. It is a further
development of the polyethersulfones. Due to its continuous operating
temperature of 260°C and its thermal resistance of more than 300°C the plastic
also replaces metallic and ceramic materials in many areas.
ifm electronic uses PEEK as housing material, in conjunction with stainless
steel, for the new generation of the "efector m T-series" proximity switches. In
the hygienic food and pharmaceutical industries, the proximity switches provide
feedback about valve positions of individual valves and valve islands. The
material combination of PEEK and stainless steel ensures permanent safe
functioning of the sensors under very difficult conditions. The basic PEEK
material of the ifm sensors in the designs M12 and M18 has an
FDA number.
The units of the "efector m T-series" are available in M12, M18 and M30. All
units have a corrosion-resistant M12 connector and they are available with
different output stages as well as different housing lengths.
