ifm introduces the TK Temperature Switch with Rotating Setup Dials
ifm efector introduces the new TK Series Temperature Switch for temperature monitoring. The compact TK Series switch and its 316 stainless steel RTD probe measure only 72mm and is directly mounted into a pipe. Two mechanical setup dials rotate to quickly establish the setpoint and resetpoint temperatures. The switch's high accuracy insures that the setpoint does not drift and calibration is not required. Two bright LEDs indicate switching and operating status.
With no moving parts to stick in the process or break, the ifm TK Series temperature switch maintains high performance and long term stability. Electrical connection is achieved with an industry standard Micro DC connector. A locking device prevents unintentional setpoint changes.
TK Series switches are Micro DC units with G1/4 BSPP process connections. Operating temperature range is -13…284°F (-25 … 140°C). Two models are available: PNP, N.O. /N.C. output with adjustable hysterisis (min. 6 °F / 3 °C); and PNP, 2 x N.O. output with fixed hysteresis (min. 9 °F / 5 °C).
Principle of operation ifm‘s temperature switch uses a Pt1000 RTD for temperature measurement. The Pt1000 RTD is a platinum resistor that exhibits a resistance of 1000 Ω at 0°C. Platinum is ued because of its optimal linearity and stability with temperature. Temperature is sensed by measuring the change in resistance of the RTD. As temperature increases, the resistance of the RTD also increases. The signal from the RTD is evaluated by a microprocessor inside the temperature control monitor. The microprocessor, along with electrical components, is mounted on a flexible, temperature-stable polyamide film. RTDs do not require the cold junction compensation of a thermocouple and are shock and vibration resistant.
